The 3 Best Stretches for Low Back Pain

Low back stretches can help with, and prevent, low back pain. Low back pain is one of the most common causes of pain and injury for adults. Research shows that 80% of adults will experience low back pain at some point in their lives.1 I personally think it’s a higher percentage than that. What is more concerning, is that research is showing that our sedentary, technology-filled lifestyles are not helping. Worldwide, years lived with disability caused by low back pain have increased by 54% between 1990 and 2015.2

Achieving and maintaining a pain-free low back requires 3 things:

1) Strong low back & core muscles

2) Proper spinal alignment with no nerve-interference or disc injuries

3) Normal, balanced muscular tension

The following 3 low back stretches are what I believe to be the most effective stretches to help you achieve more normal and balanced muscular tension. The ironic thing is that these muscles are not even in your low back, but they directly affect how much stress, or support, is applied to our low back.

Stay stretched out!
